Future of Work: Achieving the future in 5 steps

Future of Work is another term that describes new demands on working life. It primarily refers to digitalization, flexibility and mobility. In order to implement these requirements in concrete terms, there are a variety of options from the field of workforce management that are used in different industries.

What does the future of work look like and what does New Work actually stand for? Many people associate it with working from home, workation or digital nomads. But the reality is different for many professions: People who work in production, logistics or retail, for example, are dependent on being present at the workplace. This is the only way they can complete their tasks. In order for all sectors to benefit equally from the turnaround to the Future of Work, fundamental steps must be taken and implemented to enable a more agile and dynamic working environment in the first place.

What does Future of Work mean and how is GFOS shaping it?

Future of Work can be seen as a collective term for (digital) change and the associated effects on society and the world of work. Technological and media-related advances are seen as triggers. The working world of the future starts with technological equipment and extends to employee motivation and management behavior patterns. Was bedeutet Future of Work und wie gestaltet GFOS sie?

Future of Work Step 1: Create a digital foundation

Digital transformation is the key to implementing the Future of Work and forms the basis for future-proof working methods. At GFOS, we use a stable and modern IT infrastructure to fully exploit the opportunities of digitalization. In our company, we rely on a combination of modern technologies and customized solutions to make internal workflows more efficient and agile.
This includes a comprehensive workforce management solution to optimize time recording and resource management. Artificial intelligence (AI) also plays a key role for us: we use AI-supported tools to improve our data analyses and use them to continuously optimize internal processes and make data-based business decisions.
We have designed the IT infrastructure to be scalable and flexible in order to support future requirements of the Future of Work. This includes the implementation of cloud services that enable our employees to work productively at any time and from anywhere. At the same time, we use state-of-the-art security solutions to ensure that our data and processes remain protected.
By laying these digital foundations, we can not only improve our internal processes, but also actively shape the future of work - for ourselves and our customers.

The future of work Step 2: Improve the employee experience

Employee experience or employee satisfaction is essential for the future viability of a company, because a positive employee experience is the key to the successful implementation of the Future of Work. Our aim is to ensure that our employees not only feel comfortable and valued, but also remain motivated and committed in the long term. This begins with the job advertisement, continues through the interview, the recruitment process and onboarding, and accompanies employees throughout their entire career at GFOS - right through to offboarding.
To ensure that every single step of this journey is positive, we at GFOS rely on our own workforce management system. This system allows us to evaluate all HR key figures in detail. With the help of our software, we analyze factors such as employee motivation, planning compliance and the turnover rate in order to identify potential for improvement at an early stage and take appropriate measures.
We pay particular attention to ensuring that our employees have the opportunity to share their experiences and concerns openly at all times. In this way, we promote a culture of open communication in which both positive feedback and suggestions for improvement are listened to. In the event of negative experiences, our managers have the task of reacting quickly and developing solutions that help to improve the working atmosphere.
The data we obtain from the HR analysis helps us to develop tailored optimization measures that further improve the working atmosphere. Through these continuous adjustments, we create a working environment that is constantly evolving in line with the Future Workplace and ensures that our employees are not only satisfied, but also remain loyal to the company in the long term. This shows that we actively care about the well-being and satisfaction of our employees - and thus create the basis for success in the Future of Work.

Future of Work Step 3: Hybrid working in the future workplace

Hybrid working, which is a mixture of home office and office presence, has become one of the central elements of the future workplace in recent years. GFOS gives its employees a high degree of flexibility by allowing them to largely determine their own working hours and locations. This flexibility ensures an improved work-life balance, as everyone can organize their working days in such a way that professional and private commitments can be optimally reconciled.
Our workforce management system supports this process by managing flexible working time models and helping employees to plan and coordinate their working hours efficiently. The basis for our hybrid working model is a solid technological infrastructure. We rely on modern cloud solutions and digital tools such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom to ensure communication and collaboration between our teams - regardless of whether they are working in the office or remotely.
Employees can work flexibly and at the same time, close collaboration and a strong corporate culture are encouraged. This means we are ideally equipped for the challenges and opportunities of the future of work.

Future of Work Step 4: New leadership models

The management of a company plays a decisive role in aligning the strategy with the Future of Work. At GFOS, we embrace new leadership approaches that encourage open communication and flexible working hours and give employees a greater say in planning matters. This modern leadership philosophy also supports lifelong learning so that our teams can constantly develop new skills and adapt to the challenges of a changing world of work. In this way, we remain agile as a company and promote the individual development of our employees.
A central element of this model is the clear definition and regular communication of corporate goals. Our employees know exactly where GFOS is heading and how they can make a significant contribution to achieving these goals through their daily work. This creates transparency and ensures stronger identification with the company, which in turn promotes motivation and a sense of belonging.
At GFOS, we attach great importance to talent development, networking opportunities and an inclusive corporate culture in order to actively empower our employees. Katharina Van Meenen-Röhrig, CEO of GFOS, emphasizes: “We rely on targeted measures to develop the skills of our teams and give them the space for personal initiative through responsibility and trust. This is achieved in particular through flat hierarchies and an open dialog between managers and employees, which promotes a culture of co-design and creativity.”

Future of Work Step 5: Open Opportunity Marketplace

In order to remain fit for the future, the continuous development of employees is of crucial importance. With rapidly changing technologies and increasingly complex requirements, talent development is becoming a central element of the Future of Work. At GFOS, we understand the importance of such development and actively create opportunities to upskill our employees and develop their individual skills in a targeted manner. Through regular training and access to internal and external training programmes, we create a learning organization in which lifelong learning is an integral part of the corporate culture.
Through our internal Opportunity Marketplace, employees can expand their existing skills, familiarize themselves with new areas of responsibility or work in completely new areas. This opportunity for further development promotes the satisfaction of our teams and prevents well-qualified specialists from leaving the company.
This is an important component of our Future of Work strategy, which helps to ensure that GFOS as a company remains innovative, flexible and attractive for qualified specialists.
